About me

I have a passionate and enthusiastic desire to embark on a creative career within the Art World and having recently completed a Masters in Fine Art, I am looking for a career that will give me an insight into contemporary art collections, museums and galleries. My Art achievements have provided me with the confidence and flare for curating, organising exhibitions, critiques, tutorials, presenting and for my own practical research. I would like the opportunity to put these skills towards a career within an art gallery as an assistant in curating, sales, everyday management or administration. I remain calm under pressure, I can concentrate on intricacy, I am a natural team player, I enjoy getting involved as much as possible and I reflect on past activities to help future tasks.

WORK EXPERIENCES
Curating Assistant, temporarycontemporary, EVENT HORIZON at GSK, The Royal Academy, 2008
http://www.tempcontemp.co.uk/eventhorizon.html
I gained an insight into assisting with a major exhibition held at the Royal Academy of Art. My duties ranged from mailing lists and organising press and pr to help with the physical exhibition.
I helped temporarycontemporary’s founders, Anthony Gross and Jen Wu, to organise, implement and install their exhibition. This experience has heightened my wish to curate and assist in recognised events.

Curator Unit 5 group exhibition, Norwich, 2009
I brought together an exhibition held by four students (including myself) from Norwich University College of Arts, in a hired artist run space, outside of our art school. This was a great opportunity to display work free from any institutional constraints. We all designed and created work for the space and I helped in the curating. As the curator I also wrote the press release, organised the private view, designed posters and flyers, handled the costs, liaised with artists and the gallery owners.

Treasurer, Bally Shoe Exhibition 2008
This exhibition was in preparation for our final degree show at Norwich University College of Art. I had the responsibility of collecting money from every student to be spent on the private view.

Office Assistant, MANSELL Construction Services Ltd, summer 2008
I took an office assistant job to improve on my letter writing skills, answering and directing phone calls, IT Skills – Word, MS Office, EXCEL, PowerPoint, using office equipment, maintaining filing systems and dealing with internal and external correspondence.

Waitress, Pizza Hut, 2007- 2008

Retail Sales Assistant, NEXT Retailers, 2003-2004

ACTIVITIES AND INTERESTS
I am interested in photography, and it has become an integral part of my practice as an artist. I have recently had an induction to processing pictures in the darkroom; I like using fibre-based paper that transpires a vintage off-white photo. I play netball, having joined a team in Norwich last year during my degree with some success as the team won the Norwich Netball League. I enjoy dressage horse riding and have recently had lessons in jumping. I like to play classical piano; my favourite compositions to play are by Debussy, Chopin, Mozart and Haydn, I also like the jazz pianist Billy Mayerl. I love cooking and have recently started growing my own vegetables. Whenever I get the opportunity I like to go travelling and camping. I have a full DVLA Driving Licence with no convictions.
